What is Indo-Thai CORPAT?
India-Thailand Coordinated Patrol (Indo-Thai CORPAT) is a bi-annual event conducted between the Indian Navy and the Royal Thai.
31st Indo-Thai CORPAT:
The Indian Naval Ship (INS) Saryu is an indigenously built Naval Offshore Patrol Vessel, and His Majesty’s Thailand Ship (HTMS) Krabi, an Offshore Patrol Vessel, had been accompanied by the Dornier Maritime Patrol Aircraft from both navies have participated in the CORPAT.
Importance of Indo-Thai CORPAT:
- To build up understanding and consolidate inter-operability between the navies.
- To facilitate an institution of measures to suppress and prevent unlawful activities like Illegal Unreported Unregulated (IUU) drug trafficking, piracy, fishing, maritime terrorism, and armed robbery.
Aim of Indo-Thai CORPAT:
- To reinforcing maritime links between Thailand and India
- To keep this vital part of the Indian Ocean safe and secure for international trade.
- To forge strong bonds of friendship between the two navies.
- To enhance the operational synergy by exchanging crucial information for the prevention of illegal immigration, smuggling, and the conduct of SAR operations at sea.

The Indian Navy has been actively engaging with the countries in the Indian Ocean region towards improving regional maritime security. Efforts are made through coordinated patrols, bilateral and multilateral exercises, Joint EEZ Surveillance, and Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) operations.
Backdrop:
The two navies have been organizing CORPAT bi-annually along their International Maritime Boundary Line (IMBL) since 2005. The Indian Navy and Royal Thai Navy are enjoying a close and friendly relationship with a wide spectrum of activities and interactions, and the relations between the two navies have greatly strengthened over the years.
