16th ASEAN-India Summit in Bangkok, Thailand – 2019

Important points discussed by PM of India:

  • The Act East Policy of India is a significant cornerstone of the Indo-Pacific strategy
  • A strong ASEAN will immensely benefit India.
  • Steps should be taken to improve the surface, maritime, air, and digital connectivity.
  • One billion-dollar Indian line of credit would be very beneficial for improving the physical and digital connectivity
  • India is willing to increase cooperation & partnership in those areas which are mutually beneficial to both India and ASEAN
  • India expressed its readiness to improve partnership and capacity building in the areas of agriculture, research, engineering, science, and ICT.
  • India wants to strengthen its cooperation with ASEAN in the areas of maritime security and blue economy.
  • PM also welcomed the recent decision to review India ASEAN FTA saying it will improve the economic partnership between the two countries.
